Lab Policies
Unless you are specifically instructed otherwise, you must comply with the
following policies regarding laboratory exercises.
1 Purpose
Labs are intended to help you understand the material covered in the
lectures and readings. Most labs involve guided "experiments" that are
designed to help you discover/realize things that you might
otherwise be unaware of. Other labs are designed to give you additional
experience with a topic or help you acquire skills.
2 Collaboration
Since labs are intended to help you understand the material covered
in the course and grades are based mostly on effort, you may work on
labs alone or in a group (of no more than 3 students).
3 Submission
Your progress on the lab must be "checked-off" at the end of the lab
period. So, before logging off, ask the instructor to look at your
worksheet.
If you are not "checked-off" at the end of the lab period (for
whatever reason) you must submit a hardcopy (i.e., printed on paper)
of the worksheet before 5:00PM on the day of the lab.
4 Records/Archives
You must keep a record/archive of your work on all of the
labs you complete (either in whole or in part). You may keep
either an electronic copy (e.g., on your "Novell drive", on a
thumbdrive) or hardcopy.
You may be asked for your lab archive at any time during the semester.
